Assistant Professor of Women’s Studies

 

Jocelyn D. Wright, MBA, CFP®

Jocelyn D. Wright is the State Farm Chair for Women and Financial Services and Assistant Professor of Women’s Studies at The American College.  In these dual roles, she functions as the Center’s director and chief ambassador in leveraging research and education to create broad awareness of the challenges and opportunities that pertain to women and financial services.
 
She is also responsible for the FA 204: Marketing Financial Services to Women course, contributing material on women’s issues for other courses offered at The American College and planning the annual Women’s Leadership Academy Summit.
 
Concurrent to her roles at The American College, Jocelyn is the Founder and Managing Partner of The Ascension Group (“Ascension”). As an advisor she partners with her clients to design a personalized holistic strategy to help them reach their financial goals. With nearly twenty years of financial services experience, Jocelyn has been working with individuals since 2002.  She also holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation.
 
Prior to her current roles, Jocelyn was affiliated with several independent financial services firms in Houston, TX and the Greater Philadelphia area. In addition, she was an Equity Research Analyst in the Global Asset Management Group at JPMorgan Chase and a Research Assistant at Nomura Securities, Inc. Jocelyn created a financial education series, Debt Boot Camp, which she has presented to such organizations as Clarifi (formerly Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Delaware Valley) and Windsor Village United Methodist Church.  She has written numerous financial assessment profiles for Black Enterprise Magazine and also hosted a weekly radio show, The Bottom Line, on 900AM-WURD. 
 
Jocelyn received a BS in Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Delaware and earned her MBA in Finance at Howard University, graduating with Beta Gamma Sigma honors. Born and raised in Philadelphia, she quite naturally is a huge sports fan (go EAGLES!!).  Jocelyn is an avid runner having completed numerous marathons and half marathons.  She has recently started training to complete her first triathlon.

Sandra Carr

Sandra Carr is the  Assistant Director, State Farm Center for Women & Financial Services. She is also the project manager for the Women’s Leadership Academy Summit. Sandra has an extensive background in communications and non-profit management. She has worked for a radio station, a PBS television station and a newspaper. Most recently, Sandra was the Director of Development for the Sunshine Foundation. As the former Executive Director for the Center for Responsible Funding (CRF), she managed Philadelphia employees’ charitable giving campaign which raised over one million dollars in annual contributions. Sandra has a Master of Science Degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from Chicago’s Roosevelt University.

Christella Louis

Christella is the Administrative Coordinator for the State Farm® Center for Women in Financial Services.  Ms. Louis works directly under the supervision of the director of The Center.  In her position, she oversees and manages all Center procedures and daily tasks.  Ms. Louis earned a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Haverford College.  Her background and passion for cultural studies and data collection analysis will help her when performing analytical research for the advancement of the Women’s Center.
